Handmade natural soap from Wales
Folk Soap is a natural soap company based in Neath, Wales. Every bar is handmade in small batches using traditional soap-making methods, with recipes that took almost a year to develop and fine-tune. The base of every natural soap bar is a carefully balanced blend of coconut oil, olive oil, rice bran oil, sunflower seed oil, shea butter, and castor oil, chosen for the rich, creamy lather and genuinely moisturising wash they deliver. SLS free, chemical free, no parabens, no synthetic preservatives, and no plastic packaging.
SLS free, chemical free
Every Folk Soap bar retains its naturally occurring glycerine, a moisturising by-product of the soap-making process that mass producers typically strip out and sell separately. The result is a body soap bar with a lather that cleanses without leaving your skin feeling tight or dry.
Plastic free from bar to wrapper
Every bar is wrapped in biodegradable, plastic-free packaging. No bottles, no pumps, no plastic waste. A solid soap bar that lasts longer than liquid alternatives and leaves nothing behind but clean skin.
Over 1,000 five-star reviews
Folk Soap has built its reputation one bar at a time, with a near-perfect average rating across more than a thousand verified customer reviews. The quality speaks for itself.

Who are Folk Soap?
Folk Soap is a natural artisan soap company based in Neath, Wales. Every product is handmade in small batches using both hot and cold process methods, with recipes that took almost a year to develop and fine-tune. The range includes natural soap bars, solid shampoo bars, conditioner bars, natural shaving soap, and beard care, all crafted from plant-based oils, butters, and botanicals. With over 1,000 reviews and a near-perfect rating, Folk Soap has built a loyal following for quality, sustainability, and genuine craftsmanship.
What makes Folk Soap different from shop-bought soap?
Most mass-produced soaps use synthetic detergents, SLS, and artificial foaming agents to create lather, and often strip out the naturally occurring glycerine (a valuable moisturising by-product of the soap-making process) to sell it separately. Folk Soap keeps that glycerine in the bar, which is why the lather feels richer and the skin feels moisturised after washing. Every bar is SLS free soap, chemical free soap, and made without parabens, synthetic preservatives, or artificial colours. The packaging is fully biodegradable and plastic free, making Folk Soap a genuinely eco friendly soap from ingredient to wrapper.
Does Folk Soap use palm oil?
Yes, but only certified sustainable palm oil. Palm oil plays an important role in soap making because it helps create a harder, longer-lasting bar with a stable, creamy lather. Folk Soap sources its palm oil from suppliers certified by the RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil), which enforces strict standards around ethical sourcing, deforestation prevention, and environmental responsibility. Boycotting palm oil entirely can actually cause more environmental harm, as alternative oil crops require significantly more land to produce the same yield. Folk Soap's position is to use palm oil responsibly and transparently rather than avoid it altogether. The Lavender Castile bar is palm free for anyone who prefers to avoid it entirely.
Are Folk Soap products vegan?
Many are, but not all. The majority of the soap range is vegan, using only plant-based oils, butters, and essential oils, making Folk Soap one of the most accessible vegan soap brands on the market. However, some products in the range contain ingredients like honey or goats milk, which are not vegan. Individual product pages on Nalu clearly indicate whether a product is vegan. If you're unsure about a specific product, check the ingredients list on the product page or get in touch and we'll confirm.
Is Folk Soap suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes. Folk Soap offers several options specifically suited to sensitive, dry, or easily irritated skin. The Goats Milk Soap Bar and Oat Soap Bar are both completely unscented with no essential oils or fragrance of any kind, making them genuinely hypoallergenic soap options for anyone whose skin reacts to fragrances. The Hemp, Oat & Lemongrass bar and Honey & Oat bar are also popular choices for sensitive skin thanks to the soothing, softening qualities of oat. Because every bar is free from SLS, parabens, and synthetic ingredients, the entire Folk Soap range is a safer choice for anyone looking for soap for sensitive skin compared to mass-produced alternatives.
