It takes roughly 10,000 roses to produce a single 5ml bottle of Rose Otto, and the result is an oil that moisturises, rejuvenates, and balances the skin with a depth and richness that nothing else quite matches. This is the cream Jo Ordoñez recommends to everyone, every age, every skin type, but especially those with dry or mature skin.The supporting blend is equally considered. Organic rosehip oil is high in vitamin C and essential fatty acids, helping to brighten and restore. Organic borage oil (starflower oil) is exceptionally rich in GLA (gamma linolenic acid), which supports the skin's natural barrier function and helps with hormonal skin changes. Organic marshmallow root oil is a gentle, natural skin softener. Organic sesame oil provides a nourishing, easily absorbed base. Who are Earthbound?
Earthbound is an organic skincare brand handmade on a Welsh farm by founder Jo Ordoñez. It began in 1996 after Jo and her family spent a year living in a small mountain village in Northern Spain, where she learned to make herbal oils and wax balms from the wild herbs growing around her. She returned to Wales, received support from The Prince's Trust, and built Earthbound from a few homemade creams into the full range it is today. Jo's background is in biology and aromatherapy, and every product is still made by hand in small batches using organic, foraged, and ethically sourced ingredients.
What makes Earthbound different from other organic skincare brands?
The ingredient lists. Most Earthbound products contain between three and six ingredients, and every one of them is something you'd recognise from a kitchen or herb garden. There are no long lists of compounds, no synthetic preservatives, and no fillers. Jo's philosophy is that what goes on your body also goes in, so every ingredient earns its place on genuine merit rather than being added to bulk out a formula. The result is skincare that is remarkably pure and consistently effective.
Are Earthbound products suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes. The simplicity of the formulations makes Earthbound products particularly well suited to sensitive skin. With so few ingredients in each product, there are far fewer potential irritants than in conventional skincare. Several products in the range are specifically formulated for sensitive skin, including the Jojoba & Vitamin E Cream, the Carrot Moisturiser, and the Clear Skin Serum. Are any Earthbound products vegan?
Some are and some aren't. Many Earthbound products contain beeswax or honey, which means they are not vegan. However, several products in the range are fully vegan, including the Hydrate & Rejuvenate Face Gel and the Clear Skin Serum, which are clearly marked with (V) in their product names. Check individual product pages for confirmation.
How should I store Earthbound products?
Because Earthbound products are made without synthetic preservatives, they are best stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. This helps maintain the integrity and potency of the natural ingredients. Most products have a shelf life of around 12 months from opening. If you notice any change in colour, scent, or texture, the product may have passed its best and should be replaced.
