Which GenuTrain Is Right for You?
The all-rounder.
Designed for general knee pain, swelling, mild instability, tendonitis (runner's/jumper's knee), and meniscus discomfort. Its Omega+ pad surrounds the kneecap to massage sensitive areas and relieve pressure. The breathable compression knit improves circulation and activates the body's own stabilising muscles. Best for: everyday knee pain, active lifestyles, and return to sport after minor issues.
The stability step-up.
It combines medial and lateral hinges (sidebars) with a circular strap system to stabilise and guide the knee without limiting mobility. Includes a viscoelastic pad for compression massage around the kneecap. Designed for ligament injuries, meniscus injuries, mild to moderate instability, and osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis. Best for: MCL/LCL sprains, meniscus tears, and anyone needing more structural support than the Standard provides.
The arthritis specialist.
"A3" stands for Anti, Arthros, Algos — meaning "against joint pain" in Latin. It features a star-shaped viscoelastic pad with massage nubs that target common osteoarthritis pain areas on the inside of the knee. A study showed it more than doubles pain-free walking distance. Best for: mild to moderate osteoarthritis, chronic degenerative knee pain, and medial compartment pain.

What is Bauerfeind and why is it considered a premium brand?
Bauerfeind is a German medical and sports technology company founded in 1929 with over 95 years of expertise in orthopaedics, rehabilitation and compression therapy, and every product is developed in direct collaboration with physicians, scientists and elite athletes. Their patented flat-knit technology and anatomically contoured designs deliver medical-grade compression through breathable, moisture-wicking fabric — a world apart from the cheap neoprene braces you'll find elsewhere.
What makes Bauerfeind braces different from standard neoprene supports?
Bauerfeind products use a proprietary knit fabric rather than neoprene, which means they're breathable, hypoallergenic, anti-odour, machine washable, and anatomically shaped to the joint — so there's no bunching, slipping, or heat build-up. They also feature patented innovations like the Omega+ viscoelastic pad in their GenuTrain knee brace, which provides a gentle massaging effect during movement to enhance proprioception, stimulate circulation and actively reduce pain and swelling.
Is Bauerfeind trusted by professional athletes and sports teams?
Bauerfeind is the Officially Licensed Knee Brace of the NBA and has been the trusted choice of the National Basketball Athletic Trainers Association (NBATA) since 2003, with all 30 NBA teams purchasing Bauerfeind products for their players — NBA legend Dirk Nowitzki has been a global brand ambassador since 2017. Beyond basketball, Bauerfeind has been an official partner at the Olympic Games since 2002, providing supports, orthoses and compression products to hundreds of athletes across all participating nations at every Summer and Winter Games.
Who are Bauerfeind products suitable for — do I need to be an athlete?
Absolutely not — while Bauerfeind is trusted at the highest levels of professional sport, their range of knee, ankle, elbow, wrist and back supports, compression stockings and orthopaedic insoles is designed for anyone dealing with joint pain, recovering from surgery, managing conditions like osteoarthritis, or simply wanting better support during everyday activities. Their GenuTrain knee brace alone has helped millions of people worldwide, from weekend runners and hikers to office workers and retirees looking to stay active and pain-free.
How do I care for my Bauerfeind products and how long will they last?
Bauerfeind products are machine washable on a gentle cycle with cold water — just avoid bleach and fabric softener, and air dry rather than tumble dry to maintain the elasticity and shape of the knit. Because of the premium German-engineered materials and construction, Bauerfeind braces are built to retain their compression, shape and effectiveness over extended use, making them a long-term investment in your joint health.
