The Nuditea Soothing Chai is the caffeine free counterpart to the Masala Chai: all of the warmth, all of the spice, none of the caffeine. Built on a rooibos and honeybush base instead of black tea, it delivers a smooth, sweet, gently spiced cup that's perfect for evenings, before bed, or any time you want the comfort of a chai without worrying about sleep.

The blend combines rooibos and honeybush with Nuditea's signature chai spices: cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and black peppercorns. The rooibos provides a rich, naturally sweet foundation while the honeybush adds a smooth, rounded depth. The spices sit gently on top rather than dominating, creating a chai that's warming and grounding without the intensity of a full-strength masala. Rooibos and honeybush are also known for their soothing and digestive-friendly qualities, making this a genuinely functional evening brew.

HOW TO BREW

Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of loose leaf to a teapot or infuser and pour over freshly boiled water (100°C). Steep for 2 to 3 minutes. Strain and add milk if desired.

Delicious black or with a splash of dairy or oat milk for a creamy, warming chai latte. For a stronger spice hit, steep for longer. Can also be cold brewed or served over ice for a refreshing caffeine free iced chai. The leaves can be composted along with your food waste.

Who are Nuditea?

Nuditea is an independent whole leaf tea specialist founded by Josh and Sophie in late 2019 from their flat in London. What started as a plan to open a boutique tea space became a product-led brand during lockdown, and has since grown into an award-winning tea company stocked in wellbeing stores, cafes, yoga studios, and salons across the UK. Featured in Tatler, Vogue, Country Living, and BBC Good Food. Every blend is hand blended in small batches in the UK.

What does "whole leaf" mean and why does it matter?

Most mainstream teabags contain broken leaf fragments and tea dust, which brew quickly but lack the depth, complexity, and nutritional value of whole leaf tea. Nuditea uses whole leaves in every product, including their teabags. The difference is immediately noticeable: fuller flavour, smoother character, and a cup that can often be re-steeped for a second or third infusion. It's the same quality of leaf you'd find in a speciality tea shop, in a convenient everyday format.

Are Nuditea teabags plastic free?

Yes. All Nuditea teabags are made from Soilon, a plant-based mesh derived from organic sugarcane. They are fully biodegradable and can be composted along with your food waste. The packaging uses compostable kraft paper and plant-derived PLA. There is no plastic anywhere in any Nuditea product.

Do any Nuditea blends contain caffeine?

Some do and some don't. The Breakfast Tea, Masala Chai, Japanese Sencha, and Ceremonial Grade Matcha all contain caffeine. The Bush Tea, Bedtime Blend, Clarity Blend, Happy Blend, and Digestive Calm are all naturally caffeine free. Caffeine content is listed in the Specifications section on each product page.

How should I store my tea?

Keep your tea in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, heat, and strong odours. Reseal the packaging after each use. Whole leaf tea is best consumed within six months of opening for optimum freshness and flavour, though it remains safe to drink beyond this. Matcha is particularly sensitive to light and air, so store the tube sealed in a dark cupboard and use within two to three months of opening for the best colour and taste.
